David Liebmann has been a teacher and administrator in independent schools for twenty-seven years. He began his career as a teacher and admissions coordinator at Chewonki’s Maine Coast Semester (Wiscasset, ME), taught English at The Westminster Schools (Atlanta, GA), and oversaw the boarding program and later auxiliary programs at Shady Side Academy (Pittsburgh, PA). He was named founding head of Greenwich Village High School (NYC) before moving to the Fay School (Southborough, MA). He joined Glen Urquhart School (Beverly Farms, MA) as Head of School in 2016. He has been awarded fellowships from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the National Science Foundation, and the Klingenstein Center at Columbia University. His own writing has appeared in print and online publications including Pittsburgh Quarterly, Independent School, Birding, Independent Teacher, Teachers of Color.com, and elsewhere.
