Federal Funding Plan Will Benefit Wealthy Districts, Say Experts

The latest round of stimulus funding for K-12 institutions will disproportionately benefit students in wealthy school districts, according to some experts. The government plans to distribute the $140 billion that President Joe Biden has allocated for public schools by using a formula based on the U.S. Department of Education’s Title I program. While the program is intended to support high-poverty schools, critics say its formula for distributing funding is antiquated and ineffective.
