U.S. Will Search Former Native American Schools for Remains

In recent months, the Canadian government has discovered the remains of more than 200 Native American children buried at federal boarding schools throughout the country. Now, Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland intends to lead similar efforts here in the U.S. through the Federal Indian Boarding School Initiative, a program that will entail searching through records to determine facilities and locations where the remains of Native children may be buried.
